Bethany Cosentino is one of my new indy favorites. Her west coast bitter-sweet beach music has the lo-fi grit of a depressed New Yorker. The songs she writes are almost sad and happy at the same time. This new song has an awesome sensibility about it that says it is ok to wear a leather jacket on the beach. The wit of this video goes beyond the humor of the Ronald-like character that mom doesn’t approve of. This song is great and I hope Ms. Cosentino keeps her edge as she moves forward with her lo-fi and sweet tracks. It is always refreshing to see female singers produce quality music without selling their souls or their bodies to the public.
